We only recently noticed that we have Avocets on some remote sloughs around here. They are such an attractive bird and so it was pretty cool when this summer we were lucky enough to see a pair with three little ones :]

The little one is incredibly delicate looking. Amazing to think it will grow enough to care for itself, and quickly too.
